Lewiston, Maine Community Greaves after the Loss of Joshua Seal

Posted by Brass Kisses on Oct 28th 2023

Joshua Seal, a 36-year-old father and husband, tragically lost his life in Lewiston, Maine, along with several other members of the deaf community. His wife, Elizabeth Seal, shared her thoughts and emotions with Local News News.

In her own words, Elizabeth expressed, "I'm still trying to process everything. My main focus is on supporting my children. Fortunately, I have an incredible network of family and friends within the deaf community who are standing by us during this difficult time."

The impact of this devastating loss extends beyond Lewiston, reaching across New England. Brass Kisses reached out to the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, where Executive Director Jeff Bravin emphasized the tight-knit nature of their community. He received the heartbreaking news that four members of the deaf community had lost their lives while enjoying a game of cornhole at a local bar and grill.

"These individuals were there for a game of cornhole, but many in our deaf community knew them well because they actively participated in disc golf tournaments, events that our employees, who are also part of the disc golf club, often attended," Bravin explained. "Our hearts go out to the entire community affected by this tragedy."

Despite her profound loss, Elizabeth Seal finds solace in the shared grief of the other victims' families. "We are forever connected through this trauma, and we'll be there to support one another," she affirmed.
